Mercedes-Benz is one of the world’s best known manufactures of luxury cars. Mercedes-Benz is part of the Daimler AG group which was born in 1926 out of a union between Benz who produced the first petrol-powered car, which was three-wheeled, and Daimler who created a four-wheeled engine powered car shortly afterwards in 1886. The first Mercedes was built in 1901 by Wilheim Maybach of Daimler and named Mercedes after the daughter of Emil Jellinek, who commissioned the car.
Mercedes-Benz produced luxurious, durable and reliable cars from the start and, arguably, produced the world’s first supercar in the 300SL Gullwing. Today it has an extensive lineup of luxury cars covering many categories such as sedans, coupes, hatchbacks, roadsters, and SUVs.

The Mercedes A-Class is a luxury compact car that first appeared in 1997 with a tall and short body that was unusual for the time. While the second generation evolved from the first A-Class, the latest third generation has a completely new design, looking more like a standard compact hatchback, which was designed to take on the BMW 1 Series and the Audi A3. An AMG performance version of the A-Class was released in 2013 that included a 2 liter turbocharged engine, all-wheel drive, and AMG sports suspension.
Launched in 2005 the B-Class hatchback/SUV is described as a Compact Sports Tourer by Mercedes-Benz. The C-Class, available as a sedan or coupe, is one of the best small luxury cars available with many engine options: the four-cylinder C300, the diesel C300d, the hybrid C350e, the V6 AMG C450, and the V8 AMG C63. Redesigned in 2015 to be roomier, the current version adds more safety technology such as standard automatic emergency braking. All C-Classes have a seven-speed automatic transmission and the AMG versions sport upgraded transmissions that shift even quicker for added performance. The AMG C63 S V8 produces over 500 horsepower and can accelerate from 0-60 in around 4 seconds.
The CL coupe combined power, performance, luxury and prestige up until 2014. Even the base model is powered by a twin-turbo 4.7 liter V8 engine. A seven-speed automatic transmission, the CL65 AMG steps it up even further with a twin-turbo 6 liter V12 engine that pumps out over 600 horsepower that reaches 60 mph from a standstill in 4.2 seconds. But it’s not all about straight line speed, the CL corners especially well given the size of the car. While powering down a highway, passengers can experience all the luxuries that Mercedes-Benz provides in the sumptuous interior.
Sitting just under the C-Class, the Mercedes-Benz CLA is a great entry point into the prestigious world of Mercedes-Benz. The coupe-like styling luxury sedan may be one of the more affordable cars in the range, but the interior is as a Mercedes-Benz should be with sleek design and quality finishing. The CLA is available in front-wheel drive or 4Matic all-wheel drive; and for those wanting even stronger performance, the AMG CLA45 produces 375 horsepower with its uprated turbocharged 2-liter engine.
Based on the E-Class, the CLS offers sleeker styling with its coupe-like lines but the practicalities of four doors. Supporting its sleek looks are powerful engine options and excellent handling. The CLS can be powered by V6 or V8 engines and of course an AMG version is available that reaches 60 mph from a standing start in less than 4 seconds. To control the speed, all CLS-Classes come with stability and traction control and antilock brakes which can stop the CLS from 60 mph in a very impressive 102 feet.

The G-Class features full-time four-wheel-drive with lockable front, center and rear differentials. The compact Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class mixes the characteristics of a luxury hatchback and a luxury crossover with its sporty handling and elevated ride height. Sharing a wheelbase with the CLA-Class sedan the GLA-Class is wider giving it a more sporty look to match its handling and ride. In addition to the 4-door sedan, a 2-door coupe S-Class has also been available from 2015, replacing the CL-Class. The S-Class is not all about power and offers excellent handling and comfort making it a regal experience for the driver and its passengers. The overall performance of the S-Class coupled with the luxurious interior makes a faultless choice for those after a large luxury car. A special armored version known as the S-Guard can withstand small arms fire and explosive devices and is widely used to carry and protect world leaders.
